Youth Soccer

Farmington Recreation's Youth Soccer Program for Fall 2024 for children born 2010 - 2020 is slated to begin on Saturday, September 7 and conclude on November 2 (weather permitting) with no games expected on October 12 or 13.

Farmington Recreation's Youth Soccer Program thrives on good sportsmanship.

Sportsmanship is fair and generous conduct or treatment of others, especially in a sports contest.

One demonstrates good sportsmanship when showing respect for yourself, your team mates, and your opponents, for the coaches, and for the referees, judges, and other officials.  Sportsmanship is a style, an attitude, and a mindset, and it can have a positive impact on everyone around you.

Recreation Soccer, Fall 2024 and Spring 2025: U6 - U14 General Information
  • Recreation teams will be created based on several factors including but not limited to the player's home address and the number of registrations received. Although teams are created based on the registrants year of birth, Farmington Recreation MAY transfer players to another division based on their grade in school.
  • Players will be notified of their team placement one to two weeks prior to their first game.
  • Games will be held on Saturdays at Tunxis Mead Park at random times between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Players in our U10 - U14 divisions may play games versus other communities in the Farmington Valley (Avon, Bristol, Burlington, Canton, Granby, Simsbury, and West Hartford) which may result in away games.
  • Recreation soccer (U6 - U14) practices, approximately one hour in length, will be held once per week (Monday - Friday) at various times and locations. Considering our coaches are volunteers and select their practice schedules based on their availability and our field availability, specific requests for practice days and times by players families will not be accepted.
  • All players, Recreation and Travel, will be registered with the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association (CJSA).
  • Farmington Recreation provides New Balance (or equivalent) jerseys to each player per season. Due to the increase in the cost of goods, replacement jerseys for lost/stolen/misplaced jerseys may be available for a fee.
  • Farmington Recreation's Youth Soccer Program is led by volunteer coaches and therefore participants medical conditions (if applicable) will not be shared with our volunteer coaches by Farmington Recreation staff. It shall be the responsibility of parents/guardians to supervise their children at practices and games.
